On the street, a random woman in a baseball cap said Ash’s proposal made sense. Of course. “Like they have Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans,” she told CBS 5 News, “we need something for whites.” Only in Arizona.
I don’t know if this is great journalism of the greatest example of journalism that I have had the pleasure of reading in my life. They not only interviewed a woman but a random woman. A random woman with a baseball cap. This random women with a baseball cap then went ahead and claimed that Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans, which is just like the proposed Latino American Day (sarcasm), should be balanced with “something for whites.” To this I say, of course. Only in Arizona.

I don’t get why they think celebrating latinos means disregarding white americans. Just because someone else gets one doesn’t mean you deserve one, too.
Also, since I’m ethnically white/european but most definitely latino would I get to celebrate both holidays?

I heard a girl say the other day that honky was their word and that non-whites shouldn’t use it. True story.
